A family home on the edge of Corbridge wanted its kitchen-diner to open completely onto the garden — dissolving the wall between inside and out.

The Challenge

The existing French doors and flanking windows broke the rear elevation into small openings, keeping the garden at arm’s length. The brief called for the widest possible clear opening, minimal frame sightlines, and thermal performance fit for Northumberland winters.

Our Solution

We fitted Smart System Visofold 1000 aluminium bi-fold doors — UK-manufactured, with slim profiles and improved U-values. The recycled-aluminium frames carry large glass panes on effortless running gear, folding flat to one side to unite kitchen and garden.

The Outcome

Summer evenings now flow straight onto the terrace, and even in January the room stays warm behind the thermally broken frames. The owners call it ‘the best decision we made in the whole renovation’.
